WHO WE ARE

Gridley was founded by architects and professors of architecture that knew there were better ways to build. 

The managing partners of Gridley have been teaching architecture for over half a century. Both partners were hired by their respective schools to bring state-of-the-art technologies into the classroom, and they earned their tenures based on those successes.

Staff members at Gridely are the selected from only the highest-preforming individuals in those classrooms. Often, these best-of-the best first work several years in traditional practices before building the kind of experience necessary to join our team.

MIKE NOLAN (FOUNDER & MANAGING PARTNER)

Mike Nolan has been providing technology consulting services to New York City Architects for over 30 years, including networking. CAD, BIM, VDC, High End Rendering, and VR.

Mike is a tenured Professor at the NYIT School of Architecture and Design, where he developed the program in design computation and taught for 33 years… and counting.

Wearing a different hat, Mike has composed and performed music for Film, Theater, and Video. Mike has worked on Broadway, at Lincoln Center, The Public Theater, Madison Square Garden, and other venues. As a producer, one project with “Four Celtic Voices” reached #1 on the Billboard World Chart.

JASON VAN NEST (MANAGING PARTNER)

Jason Van Nest is a licensed architect working in New York City, a Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) consultant, and a tenured Professor at the NYIT School of Architecture and Design.

As a BIM & VDC consultant, he has helped several world-renowned architecture firms use advanced technology to improve their project delivery workflows, including SHoP Architects, HWKN, CookFox, GLUCK+, and others. He is currently leading the entire VDC execution of a $50M mixed use midrise in downtown Brooklyn.
